Two decades after major civil and equal rights legislation in the 1960s and 70s, women in Central Indiana were still overlooked as leaders and philanthropists, rarely finding a way into positions of influence.
For community leader, advocate, and medical professional Dr. Diane Brashear, that dynamic sparked the question: What would it take to build a region where women’s leadership and resources were fully valued? This vision led to the creation of the Women’s Fund of Central Indiana in 1996, where Marianne Glick served as a ‘founding mother.’
After 30 years of working alongside Central Indiana residents to help women and girls thrive, the Women’s Fund is expanding to serve the entire state as the Women’s Foundation of Indiana, an independent, nonpartisan organization that invests in systems change, advocates for women’s rights, and builds collective power for women and girls.
