Glick Philanthropies Awards $1.37 Million to Strengthen Nonprofit Organizations Filling System Gaps

INDIANAPOLIS, January 10, 2023 – Glick Philanthropies – a family of charitable initiatives, programs and organizations focused on building community and creating opportunity – announced grants totaling $1.37 million to organizations in central Indiana focused on supporting arts & creative expression, advancing education, improving connectivity to basic needs, expanding opportunities for economic mobility, and strengthening the Far Eastside of Indianapolis. Including these grants, Glick Philanthropies distributed more than $3.6 million through its Glick Fund at the Central Indiana Community Foundation in 2022. 

“Nonprofit community organizations fill essential gaps in service for members of our community. We cannot excel as a region without well-funded nonprofit organizations,” said Marianne Glick, chair of the Glick Family Foundation. “We selected this round of grantee partners based on their ability to connect and empower community members and we hope others will support their work by advocating for related issues, providing additional funding, and volunteering valuable time.”

Glick Philanthropies awards grants to tax-exempt organizations serving central Indiana and communities where Gene B. Glick Company properties are located. Grants are focused on making a measurable impact in the following areas:

• Preserving and expanding quality affordable housing that supports lifelong resident success
• Increasing equitable opportunities in the arts and creative expression
• Closing access and achievement gaps in early childhood, K-12, and postsecondary education
• Improving connectivity to essential basic needs and opportunities for economic mobility
• Strengthening the Jewish community and cultural life in Central Indiana

IFF, a multi-year partner of Glick Philanthropies, received a $75,000 grant to leverage the Stronger Nonprofits Initiative (SNI) project subsidy, Real Estate Solutions (RES) coaching, and leadership programming.

“The need for capacity building and infrastructure development for nonprofit organizations is paramount; particularly for BIPOC-led organizations in underserved and under resourced communities,” said Amandula Anderson, managing director of Real Estate Solutions – Indiana at IFF. “In addition to continued capacity building, this grant from Glick Philanthropies enables IFF to leverage the knowledge and leadership cultivated through its Stronger Nonprofits Initiative to further strengthen the ecosystem of BIPOC leaders and nonprofit organizations across the community.”

• Arts Council of Indianapolis (Indy Arts Council): General operating support to foster meaningful engagement in the arts by nurturing a culture where artists and arts organizations thrive
• Ascension Living St. Vincent Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE): Art commission and installation
• Indianapolis Jazz Foundation: Educational and community outreach programming
• Madam Walker Legacy Center: Madam C.J. Walker Bicentennial Legends Mural
• Morning Brown: Opera…from a Sistah’s Point of View outreach programs

• The Oaks Academy: Authors and artists residency program

• Judah Ministries: Early childhood education scholarships
• Metropolitan Indianapolis Public Media (WFYI): Education desk and community engagement
• Paramount Schools of Excellence: Reaching more underserved youth in Indianapolis
• Playworks Indiana: Programming and services on the Far Eastside
• St. Mary’s Early Childhood Center: Teacher support, scholarships, and family engagement for the Gilliatte Building preschool program
• Stand for Children: A parent-led push for a more just and equitable Indianapolis Public Schools (IPS)
